   Have you ever heard of the saying, "Praise a fair day at night"? Sometimes, you can see the words ‘night’ or ‘day’ in proverb or saying. Then, do you know that there is a story about night and day in the Bible?

  In 1 Thessalonians 5, there are sons in the day and brothers in the darkness. It says, ‘Sons of the night are in the darkness so destruction will come on them suddenly but sons of day are in the light so they are the ones who are awake without being part of the night or darkness.’ In the words above, religious people should hurry to become sons of the day and stay awake. So, who is in the day and light?

 

   Many believers think that night and day are real night and day. If then, can we get salvation while the sun is up and no salvation when the sun is down? Or some think people who are moral are sons in the light. If then, All people who are moral get salvation though they don’t believe in God? Jesus said in Matthew 13:34-35, that he did not say anything to them without using a parable. In other words, The day and night in 1 Thessalonians 5 is not recorded by real day and night, but by parable.

 

 

   John 16:25 says 'Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father’. And now we see the true meaning of the day and night in the bible with the word in The Correcting Understanding of Bible and Shincheonji in Shincheonji Church.

  In John 1:4, the Word was the light of men, and in the Psalms 109:105, the word of God is a light. In other words, the word of God, like real light which shines the world, is a parable like light. Also in John 12:46, Jesus said, "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness". He said the light because he had the word of God, not because he had real halo like beam. And Jesus revealed the word of God, people heard it and realized it, so he said, "It's the day". On the contrary, the state with no the Word is described as darkness or night.
