Shincheonji Church, Participates in Blood Donation during Blood Supply Difficulties

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, participates in Blood Donation to supply blood supply difficulties in the prolonged COVID-19 infection.

Shincheonji Church is holding "Life ON" campaign with its 74 churches in Korea from Apr. 18th to 30th after discussing with Blood Management Headquarters of the Korea Red Cross.

According to the Headquarters of the Korea Red Cross, the blood reserves as of the 13th were 3.4 days, less than the appropriate blood reserves of 5 days, approaching the "caution" stage of the blood supply crisis. Blood, in Korea, must be stored for an average of more than 5 days to enable stable medical activities.

To overcome this situation, Shincheonji Church is conducting a campaign centered on the headquarters of the General Assembly, senior missionaries of the 12 tribes of Shincheonji and other instructors. It aims to get blood for a total of 6,000 people by selecting blood donors among its believers. This far exceeds the 5,400 people needed per day in Korea, and it is expected that the appropriate amount of blood reserves will be filled by the end of the campaign.

An official from the Korean Red Cross said, "We deeply appreciate Shincheonji's decision to promote a nationwide blood donation campaign at a time when its believers participated in group plasma donation to develop COVID-19 treatments in 2020 and Korea is suffering from national blood supply difficulties due to the recent spread of omicron mutations in 2022."

Shincheonji said, "Blood donation is the most valuable service to share life, and it is something everyone should do as a religious person at a difficult time," adding, "After hearing the sad news that even patients with life-threatening surgery are appealing for blood donation in blood donors decreasing due to COVID-19."

Meanwhile, Shincheonji'S 6,000 believers voluntarily participate in group plasma donation to develop COVID-19 treatments. Plasma has been used for treatment development and virus research, and is currently used to develop and distribute national standard substances for clinical trials of COVID-19 domestic development vaccines.

In addition, the Shincheonji Church of Jesus is taking the lead in practicing love for its neighbors every national crisis, such as Taean Peninsula Oil Spill Recovery Service Sewol Ferry Support Service Pohang Earthquake Damage Recovery Service Gangwon Forest Fire Damage Support and so on.
