Shincheonji Volunteer Group Campaigned Environmental Cleanup
On February 18, Shincheonji Volunteer Group launched a campaign to clean up the environment and reduce disposable products as part of an environmental campaign in Wonju, South Korea.
This campaign is aimed at inheriting beautiful nature as a legacy to future generations and about 22 volunteers from Shincheonji Church participated. They collected cigarette butts and trash about 1.2km around a bus terminal and a park to create a pleasant environment and clean street for local residents and terminals users.
About 300 liters of garbage were collected through this environmental cleanup campaign on that day.
"I didn't know that Shincheonji Volunteer Group does such a variety of volunteer work," said citizen K, who responded to the volunteer campaign survey, and "Environmental cleanup is a urgent matter and they made a good list of things to follow in daily life, such as cigarette-free streets around schools and reducing disposable products and correct recycling."
Another citizen A said, "Shincheonji Volunteer Group, which strives not only for environmental cleanup but also for campaigns and surveys for environment in Wonju. They will be blessed." In particular, an official from an administrative welfare center also said, "We are grateful for this environmental cleanup activity."
Shincheonji Volunteer Group has carried out not only the environmental cleanup campaign, but also campaigns to visit and treat the disabled, paint murals, and pray for peace. In addition, various other volunteer activities such as donations and environmental campaigns have been carried out, too.
