Shincheonji Church of Jesus achieved the largest blood donation campaign in history
“We Are One," the youth volunteer group of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, wrapped up its long journey with a blood donation ceremony on Dec. 8th. "We Are One (WAO)" launched the largest blood donation campaign in history, 70,000 people for 85 days.
WAO shared the results of the campaign and held a delivery ceremony of donation certificates gathered through the campaign on Dec. 8th.
WAO held "Life ON Youth ON," life-sharing campaign from August 27 to November 27, setting a record of 100,360 people participating in blood donation and 73,807 people completing blood donation. The donation certificates collected through the campaign is worth 390 million won, and those will be delivered in need through the Korean Red Cross.
The CEO of WAO said, "A total of 73,807 people succeeded in completing blood donation by achieving 105.4% which exceeded the original target of 70,000. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members of WAO. We will continue to take the lead in saving lives with continuous blood donation campaigns. And we will plan and work more and more services so that we can have a good influence not only in Korea but also in other countries."
A official of the Korean Red Cross said, "I was so surprised and felt great to see that 70,000 people donated blood in three months. I thought what it meant and what their driving force would be. If it wasn't for WAO, blood recipients could have been in a difficult situation worldwide (due to lack of blood) at the end of COVID-19. The blood donation of 70,000 people served as an opportunity to save the lives of many blood recipients in Korea. Thank you once again,"
A member of WAO, who participated in the campaign, said, "I want to continue to participate in saving lives through blood donation and play the role of light and salt like Jesus's love and sacrifice for people in need."
A official of WAO said, "It was frustrating that medical workers had no choice but to watch severe blood shortages during COVID-19, but they thanked us for Shincheonji Church's first group blood donation campaign in April, I realized that the campaign was necessary. I really thank all member of WAO."
Meanwhile, the campaign was designed to solve a national crisis in which blood has become extremely scarce due to a decrease in blood donation participants in the prolonged COVID-19. Members of WAO across S.Korea participated in blood donation and it ended with 70,000 people on Nov. 27th before December as planned.
