"We Are One" of Shincheonji Church of Jesus donated 70,000 blood, the largest ever

Young volunteers have donated 70,000 blood in repeating blood shortages every winter, the largest scale ever.

As blood shortages continued due to COVID-19, "We Are One," the young volunteer group, conducted a blood donation campaign aimed at donating a total of 70,000 people from August 27 to November. A total of 103,807 people participated in 85 days and 73,807 completed blood donation. "We Are One" is young volunteer organization of Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

Considering that the average number of blood donors in Korea is 2.4 million per year, 70,000 blood donors from a single institution account for 3% of blood donors in Korea, the largest record in group blood donation ever.

"We Are One" planned the campaign last summer to solve a national crisis in which blood has become extremely scarce due to a decrease in blood donation participants in long COVID-19. "We Are One" has actively donated blood with the goal of completing a total of 70,000 blood donation by November to prepare for the winter season.

In order for many people to effectively complete blood donation in a short time, "We Are One" focused on matching the situation of the blood crisis and the individual's schedule. Members also showed their best efforts to solve the blood shortage by paying special attention to their health care and trying not to become ineligible for blood donation.

In fact, about 100,000 members have participated the campaign for the past three months to achieve the goal of "70,000 blood donation before winter comes."

The chief of "We Are One" said, "Blood donation a noble service as the only means of saving the life of a patient who needs blood transfusion. I would like to thank our members who participated in blood donation with a clear sense of calling to practice life sharing. We will continue to participate in blood donation in the future to overcome blood supply difficulties and strengthen the safety net of the community."
