[Bible Books Summary] Overview of Deuteronomy
The Bible is a Christian scripture that is believed by about 2.4 billion people (33%) out of 7.3 billion people, and has been distributed to about 6 billion people, 80 percent of humanity. It is best-selling book but is considered one of the least readable. So I post to answer questions about the Bible as a whole. I’m going to run a series of 66 books of the Bible:)
Who wrote Deuteronomy?
Deuteronomy means repeatedly announcing commandmeet.
This is the last of Five Books of Moses. According to the background of the record, Moses led the people of Israel to the desert for more than 40 years to liberate the people held by outlanders and enter the land of Canaan. In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses' prediction was also recorded as a song that the people would commit another crime while Moses reminiscing about the life of desert after more than 40 years. The place where Deuteronomy was recorded was estimated to be the Moab Plain on the east side of Jordan just before entering Canaan.
Blessings and Curses
The book of Deuteronomy emphasizes fundamental teachings such as worshiping only one God. In particular, it describes in detail the rewards of observing the law. The blessings of observing the law and the curses of failing to observe it (Deut 28).
The blessings when people take by keeping the commandmeet are to be the top of all nations in the world, the blessings in cities and fields, and to get everything (Deut 28:1-14).
It is written, however, that if people does not obey the law of God, the Lord will quickly give all these curses. They will also be defeated by the enemy and will be dispersed into seven branches (Deut 28:15~68).
